India and Nepal have officially inked Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to undertake three High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, totaling an estimated cost of NRs 122.52 million. These MoUs were signed between the Embassy of India and Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. The three projects span the education, health, and cultural sectors. They involve the construction of school and hostel buildings for Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School in Airawati Rural Municipality (Pyuthan district), the construction of Khamlalung Health Post Building in Aathrai Rural Municipality (Terhathum district), and infrastructure development works in Chandan Bharateshwor Mahadev Temple in Chandragiri Municipality (Kathmandu).

The Embassy emphasized that these projects, implemented through local authorities, will strengthen cultural ties between the two nations. India has been actively involved in such initiatives in Nepal since 2003, having undertaken over 550 HICDPs. Of these, 488 projects in areas like health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation, and public utilities across all seven provinces of Nepal have been completed. The remaining 62 projects are in progress, collectively costing around NPR 1220 crore (INR 762 crore). The collaboration underscores the extensive and multi-faceted cooperation between India and Nepal as close neighbors. The implementation of HICDPs reflects India’s ongoing commitment to supporting Nepal’s development efforts, particularly in priority sectors such as education, health, and culture.
