Kalyani Steel Limited has proposed an investment of Rs 26,000 crore to establish a titanium metal and aerospace components manufacturing complex, along with an integrated advanced specialty steel and automotive components manufacturing facility in Gajamara, situated in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. According to an official announcement made on Tuesday, the state cabinet has approved special incentives for this project, marking it as Odisha’s inaugural aerospace and defense manufacturing complex.

Chief Secretary P.K. Jena, briefing media persons in Bhubaneswar, emphasized the government’s commitment to cultivating a conducive environment for growth and innovation, particularly in sectors like aerospace, defense, and automotive manufacturing. Jena highlighted that these projects, with a cumulative investment exceeding Rs 26,000 crore and the potential to create over 12,000 employment opportunities, signify a new phase of industrial expansion and job generation in the state. He also mentioned that the subsequent development of vendors would lead to significant employment prospects in the years to come, primarily in high-end, high-skill sectors, presenting new avenues for Odisha’s youth.

Jena further emphasized collaboration with local ITIs and polytechnics to meet the demand for high-end, high-skill jobs, stating that such tie-ups for up-skilling in auto-components, specialty steel, and alloys manufacturing would enhance Odisha’s skilling landscape, potentially positioning it as India’s skill capital for new-age technologies.

Highlighting the broader impact, the chief secretary stressed that the project would attract vendors from manufacturing and service sectors, providing a boost to local MSMEs and startups, thereby fostering additional employment and entrepreneurship in the region. He expressed the state government’s enthusiasm for collaborating with the Kalyani Group and assured full support for the successful implementation of these projects.

“We eagerly anticipate the manifold benefits these initiatives will bring to the people of Odisha, marking a new chapter in the state’s journey towards becoming a hub of manufacturing excellence,” stated Jena.
