Artificial Intelligence (AI) Startup Krutrim, founded by Ola Chairman Bhavish Aggarwal, has secured $50 million in funding at a valuation of $1 billion. Matrix Partners India led the investment round, marking Krutrim as the first AI unicorn. The funds will be utilized to accelerate Krutrim’s mission of transforming the AI landscape and expanding its global footprint.
Krutrim aims to build India’s first comprehensive AI computing stack. The startup offers two models: Krutrim, a base model trained on 2 trillion tokens and unique datasets, and Krutrim Pro, a more advanced model for complex problem-solving, set to launch in the next quarter. Krutrim supports 22 Indian languages and can generate content in about 10 languages.
The startup’s AI chatbot, powered by Krutrim, performs functions similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Bhavish Aggarwal expressed enthusiasm about the successful funding round, highlighting Krutrim’s commitment to driving meaningful change in the AI sector.
The startup’s team is based in India and the Bay Area in the United States.
