Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on the eve of the 75th Republic Day that the Indian Patent Office has set a “record” by granting 75,000 patents in the last 10 months. He emphasized that this achievement reflects India’s capacity for innovation.
During the interaction with innovators and entrepreneurs, Goyal highlighted the government’s efforts to simplify business processes, eliminate compliances, and reduce the burden on entrepreneurs. Additionally, he mentioned the Jan Vishwas law as a significant step in alleviating concerns about criminal provisions for small mistakes in business operations. The ministry has actively pursued legislative reforms to modernize intellectual property laws and streamline administrative procedures related to patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
